Minister of Police General Bheki Cele has welcomed the arrest of 12 suspects
through a multidisciplinary operation in Midrand on Friday, 05 October
2018. Proactive arrests of this nature are a clear sign of our commitment as the
South African Police Service to fight crimes that instill unacceptable degrees of
fear and terrorize South Africans. These are the results of the National Crime
Prevention Strategy which is now in full gear.
Cash-in-transit related crimes like many other crimes impact directly on the economy
of the country and perpetrators must be brought to book, the authority of the state must be felt and heard.
“The Ministry of Police and the South African Police Service are mandated by section 205
of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa to prevent, combat and investigate
crime, this mandate we take very serious and we shall uphold at all times.” said Minister Cele
“As the South African Police Service we further continue to call upon communities to walk
toe to toe with us by reporting any suspicious behavior or acts of crime and show no mercy
to those who think our communities can be turned into a state of lawlessness where people
do as they please.” concluded Minister Cele
