Ministerial imbizo and launch of the 2019/2020 safer festive season operations

POLOKWANE - The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale, accompanied by the MEC for Transport and Community Safety Mr Namane Dickson Masemola, Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola and the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba hosted the Ministerial Imbizo under the theme "Zizojika izinto" aimed at addressing issues of Gender Based Violence, murder, rape and trio crimes. The event was also used for the Provincial Launch of Festive Season Operations.


SAPS men pledge to intensify efforts in the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence

Through it''s Men for Change structure, the South African Police Service (SAPS) men held a mobilisation awareness campaign in Pretoria. The awareness campaign led by men in blue sought to raise awareness on the scourge of violence, with a view of mobilising society to play an active role in assisting the work of the Police in detecting, preventing and fighting Gender-Based Violence within communities. The campaign brought together 1500 men in blue from various stations components and divisions from various parts in Gauteng. Police trainees who are yet to graduate from Tshwane SAPS Training Academy also formed part of the campaign.

On 7 July 2017, the Johannesburg High Court granted a court order against Black First Land First ("BLF") and its President, Andile Mngxitama. Minister of Police,Mr Fikile Mbalula has learnt with sorrow of the cold-blooded double murder of police officers in Koffiefontien police station. “The loss of our members through crime breaks my heart and sends a wrong message that no one is safe in our country - aside from a heavy emotional infliction upon the bereaved and loved ones, these murders affect the general morale on those we call on at the hours of our great need - we also have to be frank in assessing police murders as an attack to the state and the public directly”, said Minister Mbalula.
