Through it''s Men for Change structure, the South African Police Service (SAPS) men held a mobilisation awareness campaign in Pretoria. The awareness campaign led by men in blue sought to raise awareness on the scourge of violence, with a view of mobilising society to play an active role in assisting the work of the Police in detecting, preventing and fighting Gender-Based Violence within communities. The campaign brought together 1500 men in blue from various stations components and divisions from various parts in Gauteng. Parliament, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 - The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services and the Portfolio Committee on Police have noted with grave concern the politically motivated killings in KwaZulu-Natal.
Police Minister Bheki Cele will on Friday host a social crime prevention imbizo at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Soshanguve.
The imbizo follows an invitation by the students who raised serious complaints with the Minister about crime incidences that have turned the campus into a mini war zone with multiple cases of women abuse on the rise.
Police Minister Bheki Cele has announced the immediate and indefinite closure of major taxi routes in Mthatha and surrounding areas which are currently involved in ongoing conflicts which have resulted in the killing of more than 60 people since it erupted in 2016. The affected routes are the R61 and the N2 junction to Maclear and Tsolo respectively.
The Minister of Police, the honourable Bheki Cele has urged the new members of the Public Order Policing (POP) Reserve Unit to draw the line between policing and politics, this follows the launch of the new units which will be deployed in provinces with the aim of increasing police personnel at station level to maintain law and order.

A group of armed suspects entered the police station in the early hours of this morning. Three members were killed instantly, the suspects made off with a police van taking two other members. The Minister of Police, Mr. Fikile Mbalula welcomes the conviction of former Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Mr. Arno Lamoer. Yesterday, the Western Cape High Court found Arno Lamoer guilty of corruption. However, he was not found guilty of racketeering and money laundering .
